The Boys and Girls Club of Cuero is hiring for a Youth Development Professional.
As a Youth Development Professional you would report to the team leader, unit director and the executive director. Your primary function would be to work daily during operating hours to supervise members and evaluate activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the Club goals in academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character, interpersonal relationships and citizenship.
The key responsibilities of the Youth Development Professional are:
Prepare youth for success by promoting and stimulating program participation, orienting new members, establishing and implementing behavior norms consistent with club expectations, provide guidance and role model behaviors acceptable in mainstream society.
Always supervise members; never leave an area or program unattended or unsupervised.
Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors to ensure a positive and productive work environment by participating in staff and team meetings.
Maintain the appearance of club and program areas at all times.
Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure safety of members, quality programs, and appearance of the club area at all times.
Input data into computer system. Prepare periodic reports.
Contribute to team by participating in planning and implementing club activities.
Additional responsibilities include:
May participate in special programs and events
Maintain close daily contact with staff, volunteers, members and supervisor, receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions, instruct and counsel.
Assist Youth Development Professional team in providing quality programming and by being a positive role model.
Work with Team Leaders and Unit Director to maintain regular contact with parents, schools and others as needed to solve problems and improve services to members.
Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by Unit Director.
Skills and/or knowledge required for the position:
Must be at least 16 years old
Must have some experience working with children
Ability to assist children in understanding sports and activities rules
Understand recreation as a tool to promote physical fitness and sportsmanship
Willing to participate in training to acquire knowledge of normal child development
Ability to motivate children and manage behavior problems
Ability to deal with the public
Ability to plan and implement quality youth indoor and outdoor activities and programs
Ability to work successfully as a member of a team
Knowledge of rules for indoor and outdoor activities
Model a quality work ethic
