PROGRAMS

Increasing numbers of Cuero youngsters are engaged in learning, joyful camaraderie, and melodious melodies after school hours at The Boys and Girls Club of Cuero.

The team, composed of dedicated staff, program instructors, and enthusiastic volunteers, collaborates to present a diverse range of educational and enjoyable activities tailored to every club member.

Following assistance with homework tasks and the provision of nourishing meals, club participants are allocated into grade-based clusters. Proficient in youth development, the professionals guide the members to various available programs.

These offerings encompass a wide spectrum of activities, including indoor and outdoor recreation, scientific exploration, mathematical pursuits, technological engagement, artistic expression, physical fitness, nutritional education, and more.

Thanks to a blend of external grants and local community fundraising efforts, the club boasts specialized instructors who visit on designated days to facilitate these distinctive programs.

Character & Leadership

While currently developing our teen mentoring program, we offer volunteer opportunities to both community and Club members. Volunteering fosters responsibility, a positive attitude, daily interaction, and situational awareness.

Club members recite the Boys and Girls Club code daily and are held accountable for maintaining age-appropriate club responsibilities, such as picking up toys and games after playing, helping to organize areas of the Club, and cleaning up after eating.

In the past, members have participated in following:

  • Park & Lake Clean-Ups

  • Pet Adoption Drive

  • Pet Adoption Socializing

  • Dog Wash to benefit Pet Adoptions of Cuero (PAOC)

  • #GivingTuesday collections to benefit CAMAL House, PAOC, and Blue Santa

  • Letters and Cards for Hospital Patients

  • Letters and Cards for Nursing Homes

  • Letters and Cards for Military Families

  • Veterans' Day Appreciation Cards

  • Annual play participation and production assistance

Education & Career

Members have the opportunity to complete homework daily. They are divided into groups according to grade level and separated into various rooms throughout the Club.

During the summer, members learn skills and etiquette to further their education, are exposed to many enrichment programs, and also experience several career-building opportunities.

We are developing our teen program and have organized special presentations to impact future teen members. A financial literacy program teaches staff, members, and community teenagers, skills to become fiscally responsible throughout their education and lives.

Your gift to Boys and Girls Club of Cuero powers hundreds of academic support hours, thousands of meals and snacks, and countless smiles at our Club.

Health & Lifestyle

The Boys & Girls Club of Cuero members are served a healthy meal, provided by Revolution Foods, each day upon arrival during the year, as well as lunch and a snack during spring break and summer.

Members also have the opportunity each day to play outside under the supervision of our staff.

Throughout the year, the Club partners with different organizations, such as the Texas Agrilife Extension Office, to teach nutrition programs to our members. Members also enjoy learning how to cook healthy meals for several of our events.

Fitness is also offered to members.

Theatre

One of the popular programs offered to club members, as well as temporary members, is the yearly theatrical production. Past musicals include: Cinderella, Mary Poppins, Little Mermaid, Jr. and other popular productions.

Club members and temporary members rehearse starting in August each year to put on a musical that is performed for the public at the end of October at the Cuero Performing Arts Center.

Rehearsals start in August, and the cast meets throughout the weeks leading up to the performances at the end of October.

In addition to the musical, the Club hosts an annual Gospel Brunch in February, where club members typically perform pieces from the year’s musical.
